Our festival is about celebrating the best of Coventry’s heritage, and we couldn’t do that without its people. 2022 will be the 29th Anniversary of the festival.

The Festival Programme for 2023 will run from Tuesday 17th June to 8th July 2023.

Festival events will appear on the Positive Images Festival website, as the site will be regularly updated as new event, activities, workshops, talks and exhibitions are notified.

There will be no separate festival brochure this year.

What’s on offer spans genres, from poetry readings, drama, music, literature, contemporary art exhibitions, food and more — and embraces diversity in all its forms.

It is the culmination of 12 months of hard work by the volunteers behind the Positive Images Festival, which is what makes our work so unique. 

But it doesn’t stop there for us – we hold other community events throughout the calendar year, too.

Every year, talent from the many, many different communities who share our great city step into the spotlight, showcasing the best of what Coventry has to offer in its diversity.

Our events are a chance to meet people from the community, to taste food, art and ideas from around the world.

Because volunteers organise everything from the line-up to the bunting, the Positive Images Festival simply wouldn’t exist without its people.

In 2019, 17,000 of you attended the annual festival. Looking forward to seeing you next time.

What started as a one day multicultural book and food fair way back in 1995 has grown into a highlight of the Coventry community cultural calendar.

At the Positive Images Festival we work to support local talent from minority communities throughout the year before building up to a three-week programme of arts events in June.

The festival is there to celebrate the people of Coventry and includes some of the things we enjoy most, including music, dance, drama, literature, poetry, workshops and storytelling.

Our organisation relies entirely on volunteers — and because the festival is so central to our values, and the people of Coventry love coming, our dedicated team make it happen every year.

We offer activities for everyone – from young children, to the older members of our community. Bring your family and friends, and join us in our celebration. 

The very first festival we held featured a then little-known dub poet named Benjamin Zephaniah, which might give you an idea of just how far the talent in our locality can go.
